With the increased temps, I just up'd mine to run for 12 minutes per day at 4am. A couple of my plants were looking a bit crispy and so I increased the fourth dimension from 10 minutes. Almost all plants have green flag drippers rated at 2 gal/hour. How does your setting compare? I realize nosotros take a gardening forum on C-D, however, I retrieve this is best suited for boyfriend Phoenicians given our unique climate. Thank you in advance! |

I could exist mistaken on the 2 GPH annotate, and then I'll take to double check. Mayhap that would explain their crispiness! I forgot to enquire about lawn watering in my OP. If anyone can share that timing too, I'd appreciate it. I too have my backyard getting watered for 12 minutes per day. It looks pretty practiced with but a couple brownish spots hither and in that location. My landscaper does a great task simply actually doesn't speak English so thanks once again for the advice. |

we just put in a drip system - the guy who installed it suggested 10 minutes twice a solar day for regular plants, and 10 minutes every other twenty-four hours for the saguaro spear & the agaves. non sure of the drip rate, but the normal plants are adjusted broad open. |

^^^I would suggest getting other opinions on having a drip system effectually the Saguaro and Agaves. That is a good way to rot out those plants in a relatively brusque time. Information technology is non recommended by professionals. Running a baste system depends on the plants requirements and how many drippers are used and the gph of those drippers. Foe instance some plants like established trees need to baste run eight-10+ hours every vii-10 days in the farthermost heat and native shrubs should be on a carve up dissever system from non native plants. |

Foe example some plants like established copse need to drip run 8-10+ hours every 7-10 days in the extreme heat and native shrubs should be on a divide carve up organization from not native plants. The nursery planted the plants & installed the drip lines - two lines/zones, one for desert stuff & one for plants & bushes.. |

This spider web site might help you with some valuable information regarding saguaros and cacti in general. Over watering saguaro cacti can likewise kill the establish. The soft inner tissue swells with the storage of water inside of the plant and contracts equally the plant uses the stored water in times of drought. It is possible for the saguaro to shop more water than information technology can safely hold and sometimes will split up open like a ripe watermelon when it over engorges itself. Protect the plant past ensuring it does not receive more h2o than it actually needs. A good fashion to test whether or not the plant may need an irrigation is to clasp the tissue roofing i of the ribs of the plant between the thumb and forefinger. If the tissue is soft, the cactus could use a good watering, but if information technology is hard, it has sufficient h2o stored. |

This is a tough question to answer based on the information avail. Out there. Here is what I found and set mine according to the research i did by asking a couple of gardners, landscapers and nurserymen who seem to know what they are doing. I ready my larger trees and palms with iv gph heads at 3 each tree for 1 hour, I was told they need 8-12 gallons every other day from may to Oct. Bushes get 2 GPH times 2 heads each for the same duration and days as the copse. The rest of the yr I slowly wind them down to i day for 30 mins, schedule goes similar this: If anyone thinks I am crazy let me know equally I am never actually sure if this is overkill. Also note most of my stuff is only iii years erstwhile, as they age I may cut back a little. Good luck |

Wow, adept communication, thanks! My claiming is that all my plants are on one zone and the grass takes up the other four. Without reworking the whole system I'm trying to find some sort of balance. My bougainvilleas and palms wait great with just the 12 mins per twenty-four hour period that they've been getting. Some shrubs (the ones with yellow flowers that abound like crazy??) are looking a little crunchy. I retrieve trial and fault may be the only method. |
